Thank you for playing and wishlisting President Noir. Here is where development stands and what comes next.

So far: the work to make the game stable is done

From July through September we focused on making the game stable. With v2.7, released on September 22, that work is complete. (v2.7 is live as a Steam Playtest.)

Every house rule was reviewed, and its bugs fixed
We tuned the animations for dealing, playing, exchanging and clearing cards so it's easier to follow how the cards move
The game shows why a play isn't allowed, and when you disconnect or reconnect

Stability work is done as of v2.7: house rules reviewed and fixed, clearer card animations, and messages for disallowed plays and reconnects

Toward the full release in mid-December

From October to December we move on to polishing President Noir into a finished product.

Spectator mode: see the other players' hands after you go out, or watch a match without playing in it
COM opponents: play on your own
Free match: play anyone, no room ID needed
A better look and feel: redesigned screens, music and sound effects
Easier to play: a history of played cards, rooms that stay open between games, a turn timer, and more

Beyond President: more card games

The online play system we built for President Noir is designed to work for other card games too. After the full release, we'll use it to build and release more card games.

President Noir itself will keep growing too: we'll continue adding new house rules after the full release.

Our first new card game, TWENTY+, enters Early Access in October

The first one is TWENTY+, a 1-on-1 card duel that expands on blackjack.

Aim for a total of 20. Choose whether to draw from cards numbered 1 to 11 or to stand, and use + cards to rewrite the target or the hands in play. The rules are simple, but reading your opponent's face-down card and timing your + cards make every round a battle of wits.

Because it's a relatively simple game and a good first step toward more card games, we decided to release it ahead of President Noir's full release, as a separate title in Early Access this October.

Online matches (free match, or a room with a friend) and CPU opponents
It will be sold as a low-priced paid title
When we later combine our card games into one title, we plan to let owners of President Noir or TWENTY+ play the combined title at no extra cost

Eventually: many card games in one title

For now, President Noir and TWENTY+ will be separate titles. After President Noir's full release, and as we add more card games, we plan to bring them together so you can play several card games in a single title. We'll share the timing and details once they're decided.
